Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
a 19 year old returned from long road trip, chest pain and shortness of breath, went to ER. Chest xray, EKG and blood work all normal, except a .7 D-Dimer. CT scan of chest and abdomen done showing nothing. Diagnosis was costochondritis and given ibuprofen. Is .7 high? Should a leg ultrasound be done? Any other follow-up test recommended due to the D-Dimer test?
I would explain that these values of D-Dimmer have not clinical significance, especially when considering the chest CT scan.
For this reason, there is nothing to worry about!
I would just recommend taking Ibuprofen and using local warm packs.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
