Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I have a bad pain in the left side of my chest. It s to the right of my left armpit and kind of in the pectoral region. It hurts mostly when I move or change positions, and aches any other time. The pain occasionally radiates to my back and arm. About a month ago I had severe pain in the left side of my jaw and arm, but that went away after a day or so. Upon looking up these symptoms it sounds like a heart attack, but as I m only 18 years old that doesn t make much sense. I don t want my parents to waste money on me if it s nothing serious.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for using HCM. I understand your concern. As you think there are less chances of heart problem as , The site of pain is not typical of heart pain & the type of pain also does not match /you do not give any history of blood pressure/ palpitation- still a routine physical examination to exclude cardiac pain is advised ( to exclude pain in jaw & arm.. thus removing psychological stress )... it won't be very costly too. Your symptoms seem to be due to shoulder joint ( inflammation/ displacement of head of humerus )-- a consultation of orthopedic surgeon followed by needful imaging investigation to pin point the cause followed by specific management advised would help you. Till then.. Give rest to the part - don't force painful movements before you consult orthopedic doctor./ do not massage / fomentation may relieve pain. / Over the counter pain medicine ( Brufen 400 mg ) can be taken to alleviate pain for time being. Thanks,
