What Causes Chest Pain Under The Pacemaker?

I'm a 74 year old woman. With a pacemaker, high blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes, and under active thyroid. About 2months ago I started feeling chest pains on the left side of my chest under my pacemaker. I had an ekg, stress test, blood work done and x-ray done. Everything came back
Normal. Should I have an angioplasty done? Or see my cardiologist again.??

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

What kind of pain is this, is it exertional, occurring on activity and subside at rest. If yes then it can be cardiac. If it persists throughout the day, increases on hand movements or pressing local site, then it's non cardiac and probably related to stretching due to a pacemaker, and angioplasty will not be needed. If still you are in doubt then you should go under stress thallium test and if it's positive then get the angiography done. Continue regular exercises, and also consume low salt and fat diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sagar Makode
