Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Based on your description, it does seem to be pleurisy or pleuritic pain as your doctor suggested.
As long as you are coughing and irritating the muscles and lining of the chest pain, it may continue to occur. You would need an anti inflammatory pain killer to help deal with the pain that you are experiencing, e.g. Naproxen or Ibupfrofen or Cataflam.
A cough suppressant may be needed to help reduce the coughing. This can be used along with the antibiotic.
I hope this helps.
