What Causes Chest Pain While Drinking Alcohol?

I've had this problem for a while. When I take my first sip of alcohol my chest hurts. It stopped for a while but the only thing different from the times without the pain was I was taking escitalopram however I'm not sure if they are connected. I'm not a heavy drinker at all however I smoke regularly.

There seems to be no reason to believe that the first sip of alcohol would cause pain in chest by direct effect. Although, certain underlying factors may play a role: like the regular smoking and a possible stress level indicated by your previous use of Escitalopram.
I would be able to give a better response if you could share the reasons for taking Escitalopram and its dose and duration.

Smoking exposes the body continuously to nicotine, which is known to cause rise in blood pressure and affect heart functioning. Do you have a family history of hypertension or cardiac problems? If yes, then i would advise you to be careful and try cutting down on smoking.
A routine investigation of ECG might be done at your local physician to rule out any underlying problem.

I hope i have answered your question. Feel free to interact with further queries.
