Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Dr. Compliments of the season. Please l had a tooth extraction and my dentist prescribed Clinamycin for me because l am allergic to penicillin, sulfa drugs etc. I noticed a few day ago that l am having pain in my chest area like a feeling that l had when l had acid reflux. if l eat i feel pain and also l burp alot. l dont know if it is a side effect of the medication.
Clindamycin is known to produce side effects like gastritis and flatulence. I would recommend an acid lowering drug like Ranitidine atleast 1 hour prior to taking Clindamycin. Also take Clindamycin with food to reduce the gastric irritation by i that can result in increased acid production.
Hope this answers your question. Thank you.
