Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has had severe chest pain usually after he goes to sleep. He is not nauseated or dizzy or sweaty. Just severe pain he says begins in his sternum and then feels as if the inside of his ribcage/chest cavity is tightening, but not like a cramp. I have never seen him in such pain. It usually lasts about 5-10 minutes. then afterwards he is exhausted and sleeps. It s happened 4 times within the past month. 2 of those times were back to back nights after he was asleep. He visited his doctor who told him he didn t believe it was heart related.

What Causes Chest Pain While Sleeping?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. I think if may be unstable angina. Your husband needs to do an ECG to see if it is heart related or not. Take care. Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I ll be glad to help you.
