What Causes Chest Pain While Suffering From Blood Clots In The Lungs?

I had blood clots in my lungs the week before thanksgiving. I felt good for a week or so but now it hurts as bad as it did when I went to the er but now it hurts in my chest and in my next like my jugular veins. I have a appointment Friday to get my blood checked. Should I tuff it out till then or go back to the er?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It would be best to go back to the ER to be assessed. With a history of multiple lung clots, it would be best not to overlook any chest pain particularly if it is severe. In addition to physical examination investigations need to be done to determine if the symptoms are due to any condition of the heart or lungs.

It is possible that it may not be related but this needs to be ruled out. Investigations such as imaging of the chest, ECG may be requested.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
