What Causes Chest Pain While Suffering From Elevated BP?
Hi, I had a CardioPulminory Exercise Test this week which was very unusual. My static blood pressure was textbook but when I started pedalling my diastolic bp dropped to 40. It then started rising steadily as the test orogressed up to 100, then shot up to 163 which is when the test was stopped. So at the moment I stopped my bp was 186/163. It was at this point I started getting the chest pain I have been getting upon exersion. I believe my bp then dropped as I recovered. The person conducting the test said he had never seen results like it. Does anyone know what is causing this?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Increase in blood pressure during exertion is quite normal and it maybe technical error in showing Ur diastolic BP so high.person suffering from ihd maybe normal at rest but have myocardial abnormality on exertion which can cause chest pain and exertional dyspnea.
Based on Ur stress test result ur cardiologist may advice 2d echo or angiogram to proceed further.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
