What Causes Chest Pain While Swallowing?

Hello. 21y/o F in excellent physical shape, vitals great, but it feels like there is a pole sticking through my upper chest just to the right of center. Pain aggrivated by swallowing. Very little appetite. Gradual onset. Just returned from Africa. Taking doxy, wondering if possibly a reaction to that. Been taking omeprazole for 3 days with no change. Over the counter pain meds also have little affect. Has been occuring for 8 days with gradual worsening, accompanied by diarrhea. Went to ER, blood tests, EKG, and chest xray revealed nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of viral infection (rota virus) of stomach is more likely because of pain and diarrhoea.
Better not to take doxycyclin because this will further worsen gastritis.
Eat more curd and yogurt.
Avoid hot and spicy food.
Drink plenty of oral rehydration solution (ORS).
Continue omeprazole.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these in 2-3 days.
