What Causes Chest Pain While Withdrawing From Methadone?

I have been detoxing down on my prescribed methadone and for the past several days, I ve been experiencing a lot of chest pain. Due to the holidays, my physician doesn t haven an appointment available until 11/30/2017. Do you think the chest pain is just anxiety?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As far as my clinical experience is concerned, the chest pain is partially from anxiety and partly due to altered internal homeostasis of the various body mechanics in terms of hormone alteration.

* My guidelines at present
- Drink more liquids to maintain hydration
- Avoid stress, anxiety.
- Manage to have regular sound sleep of 7-8 hours.
- Do regular deep breathing, walking in fresh air, YOGA for faster
recovery.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
