Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a lot of chest pains over the years. I have done chest xrays and they all came back good. I am 33 years old and my lifestyle changed within the past 4 years because I had two babies in between. I do have a lot of stress and have battled with depression. therefore I get anxiety and panic attacks etc etc. a week ago I encountered a severe pain that shot right through the center of my chest all the way to my back causing me to go numb and cold down the spine. Do you know what could be the problem here?
Hello, Thanks for contacting HCM, There could be many reasons for chest pain. Xrays do show us only some of the reasons. Getting a normal xrays do rule out those reasons. One of the common reasons is gastritis or esophagitis, it is inflammation of stomach or food pipe. The more chances of getting it is that you had anxiety and depression, and 2 pregnancy - all these has a good reason for this to happen. The easy way to rule out this problem is to get an upper GI endoscopy done.Till then try to be on any "proton pump inhibitor" like pantoprazole or rabeprazole for few weeks. if this helps, you can continue for longer period. Hoping you get relieved with this. Regards, Dr Sanjay Mishra.
