Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am an obese 43 year old female. My doctor thought he heard a heart murmur at my last visit, but the echo showed nothing. Lately, basically on a daily basis, I am having a tightness in my chest. I have a stressful job (and yes I am also a stress eater). My sister suggested that it is related to my eating (like heartburn), but I rarely get any heartburn (especially since my gastric bypass in 2006). Could I be having mini heart attacks?
Hi dear. I am your physician and I have vast experience in Ottorhinolaryngology helping Outpatient and Inpatient and Surgical cases. Well I know whats going on there inside your body. Obesity is the mother of all diseases. And what happens is your lungs and muscles helping in breathing are not able to work normal if your BMI is high and you are obese. Especially Central Truncal obesity is the worst one. Also you may have some Valvular heart disease that may need attention. So please go to your Cardiologist for specialist consultation.your cardiologist may take Exercise Stress test or Thallium scan and coronary Angiography to look, are your cardiac vessels patent ? If blockade on them , He can tell you what to do. May be angioplasty.
Try to lose weight and do exercise regularly. There may be some anemia that may cause Short of breath to you. Also Pulmonary Hypertension causes Shortness of breath. Your physician will check Pulmonary artery wedge pressure and tell you whats going on with pulmonary pressure inside lungs.
