What Causes Chest Tightness And Shallow Breathing After Taking Augmentin?

After taking augmentin 845 for 2 days, I noticed tightness in my chest. On fourth day I took it a little later in the day and within seconds, my chest got even tighter , shallow breathing, and a little pain around the heart. I took magnesium to calm it. I will call the doctor today of course, but there is still a slight pain around my heart. Do you thing there is any damage? I have never been allergic to any meds, is it the dosage or age related; as in your body changes over time. Any advise.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your query the symptoms of chest tightness, shallow breathing and mild pain around the heart seems to be due to side effect of the medicine that is the antibiotic augmentin that you are taking and can also be due to acid reflux secondary to antibiotic intake causing hyperacidity..
You should immediately stop taking antibiotic and consult you treating physician and get evaluated and he can either reduce the dose of antibiotic or change the medication..
Continue taking antacid, drink plenty of water, take a soft diet..
