What Causes Chills And Blood In Stool?

I am visiting my son in nyc and suddenly came on with chills and bright red blood in my stool. Stool is whitish and mucusy. Should I go to the ER? I have had hemorrhoids before, but currently I have no pain and can t feel a lump or protusion. I am a bit nauseous and no appetite as well.
