What Causes Chills And Sweating After Stopping Vancor Intake?
My mom has just finished using Vancor on Thursday of last week. She was taking the antibiotic through a pic line for a wound infection. Then since Friday she has been having chills and even sweats on and off. When she took her temp., she is not running a fever. Could she be having a reaction from stopping the Vancor? She also has had the side effects of thrush and yeast infection. The doctor did prescribe a liquid to swish with and a probiotic. Could any of these result in the chills?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Vancor is an antibiotic that stops growth of bacteria. It doesn't cause sweating as a side effect, neither when you stop, it doesn't have this side effect. It doesn't cause dependence.
Vancomycin causes fungal infection. Liquid anti mycotic is the right treatment and it doesn't cause sweating. I recommend you to test thyroid hormones to know if it is hyperthyroidism, also infection, such as tuberculosis and blood disease, such as Hodgkin lymphoma, which may cause sweating.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
