What Causes Chills, Dizziness And Headache?

My husband has been suffering from general ill feeling which comes n gradually . He describes it as a sick feeling inside. Sometimes he gets chills, dizziness, headaches wit it. The only thing that gives him instant relief is donating blood. As he donates it while the procedure is happening he feels significantly better. This lasts for 2 to 3 months then it happens again and he has to give blood to feel better. He has gone to several specialists and no one can diagnose him. He does not have hemochromatosis. Where should he go next for help? Is there any disease that you know of that would get relief from blood donation?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

A disease that gives relief from blood donation is polycythemia.

I suggest doing a blood test and a blood smear to confirm the diagnosis and take proper treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
