Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Chills While Suffering From Osteoarthritis?
I have osteoarthritis. I am 72 years old and have had this disease since my early 40 s. My father and his mother also suffered from osteoarthritis. When I put in an extremely active day (for me), I have chills and shiver for hours that night in bed. This has happened 3 times in the last 3 years. My muscles and joints hurt even more the next 2 days. I feel as if my joints had been over-inflamed and the shivering is my body s way of cooling them. Make any sense to you? Thank you for any help you can give me. Sharon
Hello, These are symptoms of acute osteoarthritis. You should go for a standing x-ray of bilateral knees, to know the extent of disease. Meanwhile take some painkillers, such as aceclofenac and apply some ice over the site, it will soothen the pain and help you relaxing.
