What Causes Chocking Sensation And Heartburn While Taking Clindamycin?

Why does a person have to wait 10 minutes before laying down after taking Clindamycin? I am asking because sometimes I feel like the medication gets stuck right before it gets to my stomach and it feels like really bad heartburn. I have to eat a pudding or drink a full glass of water or something before the feeling subsides.
