What Causes Choking Sensation And Blood In Phlegm?
I have been experiencing a chocking sensation followed by hacking up and forcing up very dark sticky mucus occasionally with dark blood. Post Nasal drip runs in my family according to my father. I also suffered from acid reflux as a child and smoked during college (have not smoked in years). should I be concerned that the mucus production is due to damage in my esophagus or is it more likely from my sinuses
the cause of mucus production can be in lungs/resp. tract/ sinuses/oesophagus.
the most likely etiology of your disease lies in oesophagus as you also have a choking sensation following by vomiting. get a barium swallow done and please follow up with your doctor. also lets get the following investigations done just to rule out other causes- CT maxillary sinus. HRCT thorax. sputum smear examination For TB.
for now, have a cough syrup. and you can try lignocaine gel while having food.
please follow up with your doctor asap
hope this helps you. I wish for your good health. Please feel free to revert back in case of any more doubts/queries. Thank you.
