General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to severe acid reflex associated with GERD.
You should not sleep or lay flat after food intake.
As first-line management, you can take antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.
Avoid spicy foods.
If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated. In severe cases, an endoscopy may be required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
