What Causes Choking Up On Food And Breathing Difficulty?

My friend is a 61 year old male. He has history of heart disease and for the last few months he has been choking on food. Yesterday afternoon he could not breath after eating chips. He began chocking and after his airway was cleared he contacted me at 3 AM. He passed out for hours, literally. There seems to be a blockage but he won t let me take him to KDMC. I explained to him that he will need to go in and have procedures done to enlarge his ensophogus or see if there is a growth or tumor. No I am not a doctor. I m a pastor and he is my friend.
