What Causes Chronic Abdominal Pain With Streaks Of Blood In Stools?
Hello, I am a 18 year old female, and I have been experiencing chronic abdominal pain that has been unexplained by the E.R. twice now. I am not pregnant, and I plan on seeing a GI doctor as soon as possible. I have also been experiencing some black spots in my stool and streaks of blood on my stool. Could this be a sign of a very serious condition such as Crohns or something simple like internal hemorrhoids?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per my surgical experience, blood in stools from hemorrhoids is not associated with chronic abdomen pain. So here the possibility of inflammatory bowel condition with gut flora alterations are more likely.
In our clinic, after eliminating the possibility of piles by proctoscope, I recommend undertaking a colonoscopy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
