Both of my eyes have been watering persistently for a little over two years now. The tearing is constant and present everyday. There is a little variation in intensity; one day I may need to wipe my eyes every 2 minutes, while another day I can make it 5 minutes before needing to pat or wipe my eyes dry. The tears do not roll down my face (unless I force myself to not wipe my eyes for >5 minutes or so); instead, my eyes well up until it gets to the point that I can't see. I have been to 4 different opthalmologists with no clear dx provided. One had me go through a dry eye tx regiment. When that didn't work, he probed my tear ducts. When that didn't work, another put stents in my tear ducts where they stayed for several months. Upon removal, no change in symptoms. I started getting allergy injections ~1.5 years ago, and also take an antihistimine and nasal spray daily per physician orders. Nothing has helped to slow down my symptoms at all. My next train of though is that perhaps this is a nerve issue? Maybe my trigeminal or facial nerves are overactive, causing a reflex overproduction of tears. Is this possible? Do you think going to a neurologist would be the next best move? I'm at my wits end with going to different specialists and paying for different treatments that never work.
