Well, after surgery the bowel motility will take a while to return. Taking purgatives can sometimes make the condition worse. You should do these things before taking anymore enemas. Move around and walk atleast two to three hours daily. Eat fruits and vegetables and Fibre based diet which is easily digestible. Like ragi, sprouts and banana. If you are not getting relief in two to three days, you can try taking Proctoclysis enema or any other forms of enema, but only after you consult a general surgeon. Enema can make you tired and exhausted.
