What Causes Chronic Cough Along With Back Pain And Swelling In Ankles?
38 weeks pregnant, got a horrible cough 10 days ago. Primary prescibed z-pak, next day went to triage for breathing treatment and they also prescribed a steriod pill. 5 days later and no improvement. Chest X-ray showed fluid around lungs. Shallow heavy breathing, and my back is killing from all the coughing.....pulled muscles on either side of my torso? On top of that my ankles have swelled. What should I do?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are suffering from chronic cough along with back pain and swelling in ankles. Well the symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as disc problem , arthritis or gout . Sometimes when infection like sore throat which can occur due to bacterial or viral infection left untreated cause cough . I would suggest your to consult ENT specialist without any delay otherwise infection can spread to middle ear and inner ear . Doctor will order blood test , CT scan and throat swab test . Doctor may prescribe anti viral or anti bacterial drug depending upon the diagnosis along with anti inflammatory . For now take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . Doctor may also refer you to orthopedic surgeon for back pain and ankles swelling . Doctor may prescribe anti inflammatory , methotrexate , allopurinol .
