Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a really bad cough that has been going on for a week with cold symptoms. I just found quite a bit of bright red blood in the toilet after urinating; however, blood appears to be coming from anus. It wasn’t just on the toilet paper, it had clearly run/dripped into the toilet bowl.
I have read through your question and would like to tell you that the chronic cough may be due to an upper respiratory tract infection. If you are having cough with expectoration then you may have to get a prescription antibiotic course. If not it can be allergic and a course of antihistamine like Levocetrizine 10 mg twice daily will relieve you of the cough. Regarding the blood through anus, it seems you have developed anal hemorrhoids. Chronic constipation is the contributory factor. It can be confirmed on direct physical examination by a surgeon. Meanwhile, you should avoid constipation by taking fibre rich diet and drinking lots of water. You can also take laxatives.
I hope that answers your query. If you have any further questions, please feel free to write to me. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman, General & Family Physician
