Hello Dr. Rynne, My husband has been having a cough for now 3 weeks. About a week ago he started cought at night and its like his airways blocked and is unable to breath. Like if he were chocking. He spit some blood last night. Can this still be cough/cold related?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there. I have read through your question and can understand your concern. Chronic cough for as long as three weeks along with hemoptysis is a cause of concern. It is important to know whether he has history of smoking. If I were his physician I would have got his blood Profile done along with a Chest X Ray. If it is due to infection it has to be treated with an antibiotic course. You can discuss that with your physician. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing health care magic.
