What Causes Chronic Cough And Ear Congestion?

I have been experiencing a cough and clearing of mucus in my chest now(last year in June and this year in June). I have traveled on vacation to Peru a week and half ago and during my stay have coughed even more. The airplane back was bad with excessive coughing on the flight. After landing my left ear was clogged up and after a week home has not cleared. When I arrived home I asked my doctor to give me a prescription for bronchitis (azithromycin 250mg). 5 days later feeling 90% better, but I am still having problems with my ears and cannot clear them so I can hear.. what cannot I do ....should I see an ENT ? Oh I did not mention that I have a lot of ringing in my head which will not go away. I have experienced a little of this last year, but not to this extent. Please shed some light to my problem. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should be taking any antihistamines such Benadryl or Cetirizine. Also, your doctor may give you corticosteroids to reduce inflammation. If possible visit ENT doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
