What Causes Chronic Cough And Night Sweats With History Of Having Bronchitis?

My husband has had bronchitis for the past 3 weeks. Has taken antibiotics and prednisone He is not getting better. His cough is getting worse. He goes through 3 or 4 t shirts a night with night sweats. He has also been referred to a pulmonary specialists but cant get in until Sept. 1. His doctor pretty much says he s done what he can. X-rays did not show pneumonia on August 10. I believe he needs to go to a walk in clinic tonight for another x ray.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms of your husband seem to be related to the fact that he had bronchitis.
Chronic cough can last even a month after bronchitis.
I suggest to give a cough suppresant such as Dexometorphan.
I laos suggest to give him liquids.
I recommend to do a complete blood count for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
