What Causes Chronic Cough And Pain In The Chest?

Hi, just wanted to know hadnt thought about the symptoms I have been having for over a year now.. Every time I get a cold I cannot get rid of it I cough an cough, have been to the er once but they thought I was having a heart attack, at the top of my breast in the middle of my chest it hurts seeming to go to my back, I have some wheesness (like when I am taking a hot shower) but if I get upset I have shortness of breath. Have been going to a heart Dr. but cannot do the tread mill because it hurts two much. my e-mail is YYYY@YYYY thank you

Hi,

By your history and description, we should definitely rule out heart and lung diseases first. So get done ECG, 2D echo and stress test (trade mill test) to rule out heart diseases.

Get done chest X-ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) to rule out lung diseases. If all these are normal then no need to worry for heart and lung diseases.

Sometimes stress and anxiety can also cause similar symptoms. To avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm. Don't worry, you will be alright but the first rule out heart and lung diseases.
