I have had a persistent productive cough with white colored phlegm that developed in the last year. Also I have a constant runny nose. I feel pretty good except for this nagging cough and am in generally good health. I smoked in the past but infrequently and never more than ten cigarettes in a day. I have quit now for over ten years. I used to be very athletic, Triathlete, martial artist, wrestler, etc., but have been essentially sedentary for the past four years. Also I have sleep apnea and used a CPAP device which I no longer use but use the somnident (mouth piece) device now. For some reason I feel like the CPAP may have some relationship to my presentation. I have seen a specialist and am taking montelukast sodium which seems to help some. Also I used a sampler advair inhaler which seemed to help some. I have done a spirometer and seemed to do very good on the test. No indication of diagnosable disease. I have not been diagnosed but it is suspected that this could be COPD, or a recurrence of childhood asthma which has never affected me in my memory. or allergy related. I don t seemed to suffer from shortness of breath, or excessive fatigue. I sleep well except for occasional coughing spells. I am 55 and do use tobacco (Copenhagen) and don t drink alcohol. Even though I do drive a truck 50-80 hrs/week I still have to load and unload the truck, so that is some exercise but nothing like training four hours a day in my younger days. I am overweight but I don t feel fat. I am but it just doesn t seem to effect me too much. It doesn t bother me. What else might I have.
