What Causes Chronic Cough With History Of Having Bronchitis?

A few yeara ago I had bronchitis. Every once in awhile, I ll start coughing a lot and I know that s when I have a build up of mucus that needs to be coughed up. I cough it up, i stop coughing. A couple days later it will happen again. I ve taken allergy medication before, simply to stop coughing. Sometimes, when i inhale perfume or smoke, i will get that terrible cough again. Last year I had an upper respiratory infection. What is really going on in my lungs? I m not a smoker, but I feel like my lungs are that bad!
