my husband has been coughing for over four months and two days ago,had chest ex-ray.Meanwhile we are waiting to find out the results. He was given two over the counter medications to take ,but they didnot stop the cough .He is on dialysis three times a week for nearly four hours each of the days. Should I be concerned?

What Causes Chronic Cough?
Hi welcome to health care magic.... Here cough present since four month.. So yes first investigation to be done is chest x ray.... X ray report will guide further regarding treatment... Detail history along with drug history should be taken... The drugs like enalapril can lead chronic cough. . Auscultation also done and if tuberculosis suspected than sputum examination can be done.. According to cause further treatment can be guided... For dry cough antihisaminic drug can be given if needed or dextromethorphan if suitable... Advise : pulmonologist consultation for examination and further work up...
