What Causes Chronic Diarrhea And Burning Sensation In The Stomach?

I have had severe diarrhea for over two months. A colonoscopy, which included biopsies, one week ago showed a completely normal colon. I have a burning sensation in my stomach and a constricted feeling at the base of my throat, but do not have acid reflux. Could the diarrhea be caused by esophageal or stomach issues?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,my name is Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi.
I understand your concern.
Chronic diarrhoea can be caused by:
-irritable bowel syndrome (IBS),
-inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn disease and ulcerative colitis),
malabsorption syndromes in which food cannot be digested and absorbed, and
- chronic infections.
I suggest you to do:
-A blood test
-a stool test
-a upper endoscopy to rule out the cause of your symptoms.
Kind regards!
