What Causes Chronic Diarrhea And Excessive Urination?
Hello I have been having violent diarrhea for the past 4hrs I have gone potty over 30 times (I wish I was exaggerating) and I am also peeing high amounts over urine at the same. I already took 8 Immodium pills and nothing has helped. I am 25-year-old female. Lupus, diabetic
You are having very frequent diarrhea episodes and you are at risk of dehydration. You need to make sure you do drink well and substitute both water and electrolytes you loose with diarrhea. The best way to do so is by taking oral rehydration solutions which can be found over the counter in pharmacy and also try to drink as many fluids and soup at home. If you notice you are loosing more water then you are able to take by mouth then you will need to see your doctor and maybe they will give some intravenous fluids to help. As for the cause can be from viral to bacterial, the best way to make the difference is a stool culture. Other causes can be considered as well like side effects of medications or toxins (if something is digested), parasites, etc.
I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
