What Causes Chronic Diarrhea And Vomiting?

My husband is experiencing severe diarrhea to the point of just liquid & vomiting including fresh blood for the past 5 hrs with severe stomach pain. He sleeps for 30mins then runs to the toilet. He is exhausted. Also at the beginning was cold, then hours later cold & hot, now seems to be going back to normal temperature. He painted yesterday all day & got some paint on him. Also he had deli pork slice which may have been old. He is usually very fit & doesn t get tummy aches even when food might be old. I will be taking him to the doctor once they open.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Gastroenteritis (infection of the gastrointestinal tract) can be due to viral or bacterial infection. With the severity of the symptoms that he is experiencing, it is more likely a bacterial infection.

AS you stated, he should be seen. He would need fluids, medication to reduce the cramping.
No food/drink till at least 4 hours have passed with no symptoms then start small amounts of dry solid food.
Probiotics may also help as well.

I hope this helps
