What Causes Chronic Diarrhea While Having Cold And Congestion In The Throat?
Hi, I had a cold virus with a very bad cough and drainage down the back of my throat for 3 weeks and immediately after I started feeling better I started having diarrhea 3 - 5 times a day. This has lasted another 2 weeks. Is this just part of the virus or do I need to see a doctor?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The viruses which causes upper respiratory tract infection irritate the mucosal lining of the gastrointestinal tract. As a result along with nasal symptoms you may have increased bowel movements or diarrhea. You need not worry about it. Take conservative management. Take nasal spray and anti-allergic tablet. Drink plenty of fluids.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
