What Causes Chronic Dry Itchy Cough?

Hi, I ve had a dry itchy cough for over 2 weeks & has been causing sleepless nights in particular. In the beginning I was bringing up dark coloured mucus, but that has stopped over 5 days ago but the cough continues. Im not a smoker, not around pets or have any other allergies.

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Cough after viral respiratory infection can last little longer. There can be secondary bacterial infection or secondary allergic reaction also. If mucous is thick and yellowish antibiotics will be needed. Taking combination of antihistamines like levocetirizine and mast cell stabilizer like monteleukast for 1 to two weeks will be helpful to correct the cough also. Avoid cold drinks and dusty environment. Taking warm fluids will be helpful. You can take tea with lemon and honey and take chewable vitamin C also.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
