Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Chronic Fatigue Along With Vomiting And Shortness Of Breath?
my nephew is 26 and has chronic fatigue, unable to eat and keep anything down, shortness of breath, has lost 40 pounds and can t afford to lose anymore weight. Today, he drove himself to the hospital with an uncontrollable cough. He has been tested for cancer including lung cancer and had a lower GI and all sorts of other tests that come back normal. There is something going on that these doctors back home are missing. In your opinion, what would you say is wrong? What tests should these physicians be running?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
A cough with loss of weight is possible of infection like tuberculosis, sarcoidosis or pneumonia etcetera. Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is.
At this young age, there are fewer chances of malignancy. Also, there is the possibility of an allergic variant of a cough or bronchial asthma. Please consult your doctor so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
