Hello,
The medication for hypothyroid is less likely to cause weight gain. Instead, inadequate levels of thyroid hormone in body slows the body
metabolism, that leads to symptoms of weight gain and fatigue.
Furthermore, weight gain with
hormonal imbalance often lead to
depression due to poor body image.
I would suggest you to get your thyroid levels tested to make sure that the dose of medications you are prescribed for
hypothyroidism are adequate, or else the dose must be altered.
In most patients with hypothyroid regular medication helps with
weight loss. Iodine plus 2 will less likely benefit you, and taking prescription medication is rather effective.
Apart from regular intake of hypothyroid medication; lifestyle modification like brisk walking, consuming healthy meals, avoiding goitrogenic foods will help.
In addition, thyroid medication is less likely the cause of
high blood pressure.
However, changes in blood pressure can be caused to
thyroid disorder. Meanwhile, I would suggest you to get your blood pressure measured daily at a pharmacy, or using an automatic home device for a week.
You may note the changes in blood pressure, and discuss it with your treating physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
