I was diagnosed with "chronic fatigue syndrome" at the Mayo Clinic. Not believing it since I don't fit the CDC profile and have other symptoms not associated with cfs, I obtained a new internist locally and he agreed to test me for parasites. I was found to have dientamoeba fragilis. Could this parasite cause symptoms such as muscle fatigue (esp. in legs), muscle fasiculation (esp. in legs), shortness of breath, and coughing?
Dientamoeba fragilis is a parasite that lives in the large intestine of humans.
The most common symptoms caused by this parasire are diarrhea, stomach pain, and stomach cramping. Loss of appetite and weight, nausea, and fatigue also are common.
-Your actual symptoms are not usual symptoms of this parasite and in my opinion these symptoms are not related to dientamoeba fragilis
I suggest to talk with your treating doctor to check for a possible respiratory tract condition or a neurologic cause that can explain your actual symptoms. It is necessary to find the cause and only than you can have the right treatement.
Hope this is helpful. If you have other doubts, feel free and ask. Take care.
