Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My bp is 146/106. I have a splitting headache...and feel very jittery. I assume it is anxiety, but am supposed to teach a VBC class tonight at church. I feel like calling out because of my anxiety. Is that bp and headache suffice reasoning to stay home and call it a night
Your blood pressure is above the normal range (especially the second value, the diastolic one) but is not in the range that would be considered urgent. You will need to have it checked over the next couple of weeks and if your blood pressure remains high then you will need to talk with your doctor and probably get treatment for it.
Anxiety and overload or stress can cause both headaches and high blood pressure. You will need to talk with your doctor to have a thorough examination and if physical conditions are ruled out as the cause of the headaches then you will need treatment for anxiety and also a consult with a counselor will help to deal with it.Checking your thyroid with a TSH test advisable to rule out first thyroid as a possible cause of anxiety.
Hope I have answered your query.
