Hello dear, Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.Most common cause of chronic headache epidemiologically are- 1)Migraine-This is typically episodic headache.Episodes of headache last from 1 hour to 2 days.Headache is typically unilateral,throbbing,associated with nausea or visual aura,headache severity increases on bright light and sound.It responds to several classes of drugs like beta-blockers,tricyclic antidepressants,anticonvulsants,triptans,calcium channel blockers and Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. 2)Tension type headache- This is usually persistent diffuse headache associated with neck pain.Pain is felt as diffuse heaviness in head and can get relieved with a pressure band on scalp.It usually responds to tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline . Strange taste of food may just be incidental.
