Hello dear,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.Most common cause of chronic headache epidemiologically are-
1)Migraine-This is typically episodic headache.Episodes of headache last from 1 hour to 2 days.Headache is typically unilateral, throbbing, associated with nausea or visual aura, headache severity increases on bright light and sound. It responds to several classes of drugs like beta-blockers,tricyclic antidepressants, anticonvulsants, triptans, calcium channel blockers and Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
2)Tension type headache- This is usually persistent diffuse headache associated with neck pain.Pain is felt as diffuse heaviness in head and can get relieved with a pressure band on scalp. It usually responds to tricyclic antidepressants like 'amitriptyline'.
Strange taste of food may just be incidental.
Your headache is most likely due to one of the above etiologies. Please visit your physician so that he takes detailed history and establish your diagnosis .I hope it helps.
