What Causes Chronic Hives After Being Bitten By Black Spider?

I have suddenly developed chronic hives within the last month or so. The hives began to appear after being bitten by a black spider, don t know the type. Had severe pain and swelling. Self-medicated. But now I have chronic hives. May be related to spider or perhaps, hormonal? I am 55 yr old female. Menopausal.
