What Causes Chronic Increasing Knee Pain?

I have pain in my knee for the last 10 months, which was just mild. I am an ardent exercise lover and go for power walking almost like marching, daily for 35 minutes. About 2 months back while walking something happen to my left knee and I couldn t put a step forward and I came back home in a taxi. Now the pain is severe. The pain was mostly on the back and inner side of my knee. Its very difficult to bend the knee because it feels very stiff. Coming down the steps are more difficult than going up. X-ray and scanning done. Xray showed early osteo arthritis. Blood test shows no Rhematoid factor.Doctors prescribed Zerodol 100mg bd with Pantor. If I take these NSAID I am OK. If I stop it even for a day the pain start all over again. I am 58 years old and 70kg

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that you might be having osteo-artheritis of knee joint and spondilitis in lumbo-sacral vertebrae giving rise pain, stiffness and all other problems.
Consult orthopedic surgeon and get examined.
Physiotherapy, short way diathermy will be of much value.
Go for patellar and back extension exercises daily.
Take calcium and multivitamine supplements.
Avoid more bending and squatting.
Ok and take care.
