Hi,
Insomnia can be horrible as I have come across the patients who were suffering from it, It happens to most of us at a certain period of time. It can drastically affect someone's quality of life as well. Sleep and our memory are closely related it will be impossible for you to concentrate when you lack your sleep. I believe you are taking sleeping aid,
anxiety medication and as well as headache pills by prescription.
What surgeries did you undergo in the past? What is your present
thyroid status? Since fluctuation in thyroid levels can also cause insomnia. I suggest you try the following steps for insomnia which may help you to alleviate it.
There can be a lot of causes for
chronic insomnia both anxiety and
depression can lead to chronic insomnia and several other organic pathologies can cause too.
1) Have a good
sleep hygiene (sleep at the right time and wake up at the right time.)
2) Try to have your meal at least one or two hours before your bedtime.
3) Try using a white noise machine as it may help you to fall asleep earlier.
4) Minimize using electronic devices in bedtime.
5) If you're not physically active try to join a gym or play a sport.
6) Try
meditation or other methods for relaxation.
If nothing of the above methods work for you, you need to consult a good
psychiatrist who can refer you to a psychotherapist/behavioural counsellor who can prescribe medications or therapy to alleviate your insomnia.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
