Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Chronic Itching After Being Bitten By An Insect?
I got a bite on my upper left arm around the shoulder this past weekend and thought it was just a mosquito bite. Swelling quickly went away and came back the next day. It has been 5 days and my arm feels warm/hot. It started to itch at a different location next to the bite site. Hands and upper arm feels swollen but they look normal. Also having tingling and numb feeling on my left side of body. Could it be that I was bitten by a spider or an allergic reaction to mosquito bite?
Symptoms of swelling, tingling and numbness in the upper limb after being bitten by an insect are probably due to allergic reaction to the sting of the insect.
I suggest you consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment. The allergic reaction can be treated by anti-histaminic drugs and painkillers.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
