I have a six year old granddaughter who seems fine... not overly tired, sometimes tooo hyper... but has had a temp of 100 or 101 for about a month. has seen dr... they say to ignore unless other symptoms appear. checked for UTI and said no... but high concentration.. not enough water. She drinks water all day.
1. Most fever in general practice are viral, self limiting and require symptomatic treatment. 2. Since duration is more than 1 month thus one should compulsory look for pallor, jaundice, neck stiffness, abdomen for liver and spleen and auscultate the chest. 3. If fever does not reduce with antibiotic treatment, ask for Hb%,WBC,ESR,Widal test, blood smear for malaria 4. If no source is detected go for blood culture.
