Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Chronic Neck And Back Pain Despite Taking Medication?
I am not getting sufficient relief from my neck and back pain using oxycodone 10 mg x 3 a day and 50 mg Trammadol 3 x day. I was on much higher dose until new laws came in 2016. I was cut back to minimum. I want to know if requesting 1 more oxycodone of 10 mg is really over doing it or unreasonable. I have chronic neck and back pain, work at a desk and limited funds.
I understand your concerns. Chronic pain can be very distressing but it should be kept in mind that the lesser medications, the better. You may need other options like physiotherapy to decrease your dependency and requirement of the pain killers. If pain still persists, you may go for safer options like paracetamol. However, any medication should be taken only after consultation with your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Zahir Shah, Internal Medicine Specialist
